A little bit about me….

I was born on June 23, 1974 in Massachusetts; I grew up there, as well as in New Hampshire. My great Aunt Edna used to call me a little spider; she said I was always busy and running around. Also, I was always the tallest student in my class. Here I am in first grade with my best friend, Jill. I’m the tall one!

Growing up, our family spent a lot of time in the summer at Lake Sunapee, NH. Here I am driving my grandfather’s old motorboat. I still love being on the water and being outside.

When I was three years-old, I decided I wanted to be a professional ice skater when I grew up. Then, when I was six, I decided I wanted to be an astronaut. That stuck through most of high school, but I still love to ice skate! Here I am in my high school Calculus class. Note the reliable Texas Instrument calculator in front of me: I dropped it 100 times (at least) and it never broke!

I studied biology at MIT, which I found fascinating! I still love all things science. One of my favorite parts about writing nonfiction is all the interesting things I get to learn — and all the wonderful people I get to meet!

I currently live in Seattle with my family and our small, ferocious dog named Bear. He is a snugglebug, once he gets to know you.
